1code ID
Terms of Service
Last updated 19 October 2026 · applies wherever you are · your region
These are the terms between you and 1code x LTD for the 1code ID app, the website 1code.id and the sign-in service at auth.1code.id. They are written to be read. The section at the end adds what your country's law guarantees you on top; nothing here takes that away.
1. Who we are, and what these terms cover
1code ID is a sign-in app and service operated by 1code x LTD, company number 12828341, 2 Centurion Way, Credenhill, Hereford, England, HR4 7FF, United Kingdom, a company registered in England and Wales ("1code", "we", "us"). By creating an account or using 1code ID you accept these terms. If you do not accept them, do not use 1code ID. The Privacy Policy explains what we collect and why; it is part of these terms.
2. What 1code ID is
1code ID lets you prove it is you, to apps and websites that use 1code ID, by approving each sign-in on your phone with your fingerprint or Face ID. There is no password and no email code. Your phone holds a private key that never leaves it; we hold only the matching public key and a certificate for it.
1code ID is the sign-in step only. The apps and websites you sign in to ("relying parties") are run by other people under their own terms. What they do with your account after you sign in is between you and them. We are not a party to that relationship and are not responsible for their services.
3. Who may use it
You must be at least 18 years old and able to enter a binding agreement. You may create an account only for yourself, and you must give us a username that is not misleading and does not belong to someone else.
4. Your phone is your key — your responsibilities
- Keep your phone and its fingerprint or Face ID under your control. Anyone who can unlock your phone with an enrolled fingerprint or Face ID can approve sign-ins as you.
- Do not approve a sign-in you did not start. The app shows you what is asking and what it will receive; if it is not you, refuse it.
- Keep the app up to date. Older versions may stop working when we improve the service.
- Tell us at support@1code.id as soon as you believe your account or phone has been misused.
Because we never hold your private key or your fingerprint or Face ID, we cannot sign in as you, reset your account, or recover it for you. Recovery works only through the key holders you choose (section 5). If you lose your phone and have no key holders, your account cannot be recovered; you will need to create a new one, and relying parties will see you as a new person.
5. Key holders and recovery
You may designate other 1code ID users as your key holders. A key holder can confirm, in person, that a new phone is yours. After a 24-hour waiting period, during which any phone still on your account can refuse the recovery, the new phone becomes the only key on your account and every earlier phone is signed out.
You choose your key holders and you are responsible for that choice. A key holder who confirms a recovery that was not yours can let someone else take over your account. We do not vet key holders and cannot undo a completed recovery. If you act as a key holder for someone else, confirm a recovery only in person and only when you are certain it is them. Never confirm from a photo, a video call, a message or a phone call.
6. Acceptable use
Do not: use 1code ID to impersonate anyone, or create an account for someone else; attempt to extract, copy or misuse another person's keys, certificates or approvals; interfere with the service, probe or overload it, or bypass its security; use 1code ID for anything unlawful, or to help anyone else do so; resell or offer 1code ID as your own service without a written agreement with us. We may suspend or close an account that breaks these rules or that we reasonably believe is being used fraudulently.
7. Developers and relying parties
If you register an app or website to use 1code ID for sign-in, the developer terms at 1code.id/developers also apply, including what the verified_human claim means and does not mean. You are responsible for your own service, your own users and your own compliance with the law.
8. Fees
1code ID is free for people. It is also free for apps and businesses today. If that changes, we will give at least 30 days' notice before any fee applies, and you will be able to stop using the service before it does.
9. Availability, changes and ending the service
We work to keep 1code ID available, but we do not promise that it will always be available or error-free. We may change, pause or withdraw features, and we may end the service with reasonable notice. If we end the service, we will give you a reasonable period to make other arrangements with the relying parties you use. You may stop using 1code ID at any time by deleting your account in the app or by asking us at support@1code.id. Deleting your account removes your keys and certificates from the service; relying parties keep whatever records they hold under their own terms.
10. What we are responsible for, and what we are not
We provide 1code ID with reasonable care and skill. Nothing in these terms limits or excludes rights that the law of your country gives you and does not let us exclude, including consumer-protection rights. Subject to that, to the fullest extent the law allows:
- 1code ID is provided "as is". We do not promise that it will meet your needs, or that a relying party will accept or keep accepting a 1code ID sign-in.
- We are not liable for loss caused by someone else unlocking your phone, by a key holder confirming a recovery, by a relying party's acts or omissions, or by events outside our reasonable control.
- We are not liable for indirect or consequential loss, loss of profit, loss of business or loss of data.
- You agree that, as far as the law allows, we are not liable for any damage caused by a technical failure, such as the service being down, an error, or data being lost or delayed.
- If something goes wrong, the most we owe you, for all claims connected with 1code ID, is a refund of what you paid us for the month in which it happened.
11. Privacy
Our Privacy Policy explains what we collect, why, how long we keep it and your rights under the law of your region. We do not sell your personal information and we do not show advertising.
12. Intellectual property
1code ID, its software, design and name belong to 1code x LTD or its licensors. These terms give you a personal, non-transferable right to use the app for its intended purpose and nothing more. You keep the rights to anything you provide to us.
13. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms. For significant changes we will tell you in the app or on 1code.id at least 14 days before they take effect; any new fee gets at least 30 days' notice before it applies. If you keep using 1code ID after that date, the new terms apply. If you do not agree, stop using the service and delete your account.
14. Law and disputes
These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales. If your country's law gives you protections that cannot be contracted away, you keep them, and you may bring a claim in the courts of the country where you live. Your region's section below says what that means. Otherwise, if we cannot resolve a dispute by talking to each other, the courts of England and Wales have jurisdiction. Nothing here prevents you from approaching a consumer or data-protection authority where the law gives you that right.
15. General
If part of these terms is found to be unenforceable, the rest still applies. Our not enforcing a term is not a waiver of it. You may not transfer your account or these terms to anyone else. These terms, with the Privacy Policy and the developer terms where they apply, are the whole agreement between you and us about 1code ID.

Your region
Consumer law differs by country. This section says how these terms work where you live; it only ever adds to your rights.
Every region’s section is on this page.
South Africa
The Consumer Protection Act, 2008 applies to you, and nothing in these terms limits it. You may bring a claim in a South African court with jurisdiction over you, and you may approach the National Consumer Commission.
Europe: EU, EEA, United Kingdom and Switzerland
If you are a consumer in the EU, the EEA or Switzerland, the mandatory consumer-protection rules of the country where you live apply to you regardless of section 14; in the United Kingdom the Consumer Rights Act 2015 applies to you and you may bring a claim in the courts of that country. We will not rely on any term in this agreement that your country's law makes unfair or unenforceable against a consumer. Because 1code ID is free for people, no fee is refundable; if we ever charge you, your statutory right to cancel within 14 days of a distance contract applies.
United States
Nothing in these terms waives rights that the consumer-protection law of your state gives you and does not let us exclude. You may bring a claim in the courts of the state where you live. These terms contain no arbitration clause and no class-action waiver.
Brazil
The Consumer Defence Code (Código de Defesa do Consumidor) applies to you, and nothing in these terms limits it. You may bring a claim before the courts of your domicile, and consumer-protection bodies such as Procon remain available to you.
Rest of Africa
The consumer-protection law of your country applies where it is mandatory (for example the Federal Competition and Consumer Protection Act in Nigeria or the Consumer Protection Act in Kenya), and you keep every right it gives you. You may bring a claim in the courts of the country where you live.
Asia-Pacific
Where your country's consumer law applies to you and cannot be excluded (for example the Australian Consumer Law, or the Consumer Protection Act, 2019 in India), it does, and you keep every right it gives you, including any statutory guarantees. You may bring a claim in the courts of the country where you live.
Canada
The consumer-protection law of your province applies where it is mandatory (in Québec, the Consumer Protection Act, including its rule that you may bring a claim before the courts of your home district), and you keep every right it gives you.
Everywhere else
Wherever you live, you keep every protection your country's law gives you and does not let us exclude, and you may bring a claim in your local courts where that law allows it. Section 14 applies to everything else.
